Mikul makes his GGT debut with this project and he couldn’t have done it with a better cut…
The buzz for Mikul has been boiling in the Dallas underground, having come to prominence for his electric and high energy on stage performances. I haven’t personally caught him live, but I sure have heard of him.
“Stories of a Pimp” summarize’s Mikul and his vast discography to a tee, coherent but exciting. The features on this project serve to only elevate this description, from Gwap Lvrd D, Zaybooty and Phee6z eccentric contributions on “Wake n Pray” to Lil Texxan’s fast paced words on “James Franco.” At the center of it all however is Mikul’s lyrical genius and spotless hardcore head banging deliveries. This is highlighted by his work on the albums closing track “Anime Flow.”
Upon getting three tracks deep into this cut it was easy for me to come to the conclusion that the production was carefully curated to reach the listeners inner adrenaline glands. Most common through the projects run time was the effect it had on my mental, pushing to the brink of moshing in bedroom to potentially punching holes in a wall. The beat selection is clearly designed to be play into Mikul’s self made reputation of bringing energy.
All in all this is a project and artist that needs more ears. In my opinion he is criminally unrecognized within the DFW’s borders.
