Think Like There Is No Box

CHROMA- Gelatina

CHROMA- Gelatina

Gelatina perfectly encapsulates everything CHROMA can be and the potential this hip-hop trio contains.

Bleu Santana kicks off the track by bringing the group’s new age hip-hop influences to the forefront with a high energy and abstract flow. However, the full picture of Gelatina becomes clear when Bleu passes the verbal baton onto Polito for the tracks hook. Polito then proceeds to bring a sound that, in many ways, echos Bleu’s. With one small caveat- it’s entirely delivered in Spanish. This decision completely warps the understanding which the listener may think they had on this song. The change in language allows new heights and vibes for this group to instill in their listener’s ears. The song climaxes with Kalid combining both Spanish and English into his verse, and in doing so, he successfully blends the two sides of the equation which CHROMA’s sound is made up of.

Best described as Brockhampton meets Calle 13, CHROMA, while not entirely perfect, shows they have the potential to pave the way into a previously uncharted section of hip-hop. Make sure you peep Gelatina down below.
